Two front Teeth

Today Jack cut his first tooth, making him the first of the two to have a tooth. Man they boys are growing up so fast and everything seems like it is going in rapid speed. Work I moving at a rapid pace and sooner than later we will be planning for Christmas. I am really looking forward to the first holidays as a family. I know the boys are going to have so much fun. I think I am most excited about M and I carving out our own traditions. I am sure it will be a little of her family traditions and a little of my family’s.

Two weeks from now, give or take, the boys will be turning 9 months old. I am loving every minute of the time I have with them I really resent traveling for work if it means I have to be away from them for any amount of time. I know they don’t really know it now but they will as they get a little older. I know they always miss me by the smiles they give me when I come home. It’s truly one of the best things ever to happen to me. I was telling M the other day that I really think being a dad is the best thing that ever happened to me. Although she worries a lot out of love, there is no better mom around than M. I sometimes forget to tell her but I know she knows it.

Circleville Pumpkin Festival

We got moving early Saturday and headed out to the Circleville Pumpkin Festival with Erin and Josh. It was a good time but very busy. We actually were able to push a stroller through the crowd with relative ease. They boys were good but not really sure how much they saw and cared to see. Summy got a little tired of riding in his car seat so I put him on my shoulders for a few minutes. According to M, he looked like he was in parade, laughing and smiling at everyone. It was pretty great.

We went out with Aunt Caitlin and Uncle Mike for dinner on Saturday night. It felt like one of the first times we went out and were told one time and it ended up being a longer wait. We called ahead and they told us when we arrived we were the next table. Ummm…about 35 minutes later we got seated. The manager took care of the app’s for us at dinner. Too bad we made bad selections and they were only so-so. Jack was into the booth and looking out the window. He has this thing for texture right now and since the booth was covered with a textured cloth he was scratching it all night. The he realized if someone held him he could see out the window. He loved looking at the lights of the buildings and cars going by.

I love taking them to these kinds of things. I want to go to all of them and experience them as the boys do. I never want to give them up. I want to hold them the whole time we are there. I am still, after 8 months, very possessive of them and my time with them. Maybe I’m selfish or maybe it’s my controlling nature but they are our kids and we come first. Some day that will wane but I hope not…the better solution is I will get better at sharing my family or being less blunt. Maybe after their first birthday or the first holidays I will lighten up a bit…oh well shoot me for being involved and not being good at being subtle.

Boo at the Zoo:

We are now members of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium…again. We had a membership previously but let it lapse with the all the changes happening with our family. So we joined again when we went out to Boo at the Zoo. It was fun and we had a last. The boys a little young to be getting candy at all of the treat stations but M and I managed to get some for ourselves. J The highlights had to be the costumes. Jack was a hot dog. We found the costumes at Old Navy. I was calling him the Jack-o-weenie and a student at M school called him the Halloweenie…both are excellent names. Summy was dragon. He looked so funny and cute. He looked comatose as well and wouldn’t move any muscles in his head the whole night.

The boys both liked the manatees and the monkeys but were pretty uninterested in the other animals. I don’t know if it was because it was dark or there weren’t very many out. We made a trip to the snake house and they had a line to pet a snake. Summy was into it but not as muck as Jack. Jack loved it and had a huge grin on his face. I think its because Jack is really into textures right now. Anything that feels different he loves to scratch at it.

We were supposed to meet up with the babysitter and family but never did. We had a great time and I can’t wait until the spring when we can make a ton more trips to the zoo to see all the animals. I know they are going to love it.

Young's to Pick Pumpkins

We went to Young’s today to pick pumpkins with Erin and Josh. It was a lot of fun. I severely downgraded my expectations of what I would like to happen in order to make it more fun. We did take the camera and the video camera but I was going to try and capture all the fun. I think I learned my lesson from Apple picking a few weeks ago.

We picked two great pumpkins, Jack’s is orange and green and Summy’s is orange with green stripes. We carried them in their slings this time as to free up the hands. They had a blast from what we can tell. Jack had a big huge grin on his face while we rode on the wagon out to the pumpkin patch. I couldn’t tell with Summy but he appeared to be having fun. M got some great pics and I got some great pics of her.

Then Summy sat up on his own. He has been sitting a lot with assistance but today he actually sat up on his own for the first time. M had them propped up on some pumpkins to take their 8 month pictures and when we looked over at Summy, he had sat forward all by himself. He sat there for a minute or two before falling over. They loved sitting in the hay. Summy got a hold of a piece and learned that not everything that goes in your mouth is going to taste good. All in All they had a great day and it was another family fun moment for the Anderson’s. If I knew how to load pictures on this blog I would, but otherwise you’ll need to jump over to M’s blog to check out any picture updates.

M's Birthday is tomorrow and this year she turns....

M’s birthday is tomorrow and again she is not wanting to do anything for her birthday. We are going to make her breakfast and get her a card and some flowers in the morning. I can’t wait until next year when the boys can go out and pick a card out for her. Maybe even a small gift. We don’t exchange gifts normally because my birthday is so close to Christmas it makes it really hard on M.

Well she had a really last minute change of heart and we were able to sneak off for a quick meal together while her mom watched the boys. We talked about how it was before they were here and we both agreed that it is better now than it has ever been. I wouldn’t trade this for the world. The times now I get to go out with just M and myself is the best. Sure we spend most of our time talking about them boys but I think I genuinely enjoy our time together more now. If I had a choice I would bring them every time, but I would trade these moments together.

The boys are now blowing raspberries. Jack can actually stick his tongue out when he does it. It’s pretty funny. If I mimic it he will do it again. They are also really good at grabbing things and sticking them into their mouths.
