Trick or Treat Day 2

The boys had Halloweens parties at daycare today and then we took them out in our neighbor hood. I am concerned that they will think the get to do this everyday. While we didn’t make it as far, Summy had the best time riding in their wagon. He is the one we will have to watch out for when they start driving. He loves to go really fast. He rocks back and forth to simulate going fast.

Jack on the other would prefer to walk on his own. He pretty much prefers to do everything on his own. He will let you know if he needs something or wants help, but he loves to try and figure things out on his own.

Trick or Treat Day 1

The boys went trick or treating at my mother in laws house. They had a blast. We actually made it all the way around the whole block. We saw the firefighters and lots of good costumes.

This year Jack was monkey. How appropriate for our little boy who can’t sit still and has to climb everything. Currently he is climbing our entertainment center and the stove. With the stove he uses the drawer under the stove to climb to see what is on the stove. It’s gotten to the point where we have to block the kitchen off while making dinner.

Summy was a skunk this year. I was totally skeptical about this being a costume but the sight of him in it cracks me up every time I see him. He had loads of fun but got scared a few times at houses that had lots of decorations and people dressed up scary. He was able to get trick or treat out a few times. It sounded like “drick or dreat.” He is such a polite little boy as well. He always says thank you, which is great.

Weekend Plans

We had a great weekend this weekend. Aunt Caitlin and Uncle Mike got married on Saturday. We went to the rehearsal on Friday and found that Jack had bite marks all up his arm. I pointed them out to M and she immediately called the daycare. They did not mention anything about it and there was no incident report. The first response we got was they witnessed Summy getting mad and biting his own wrist. Only problem I had with that is Summy had no marks on him and Jack had mark that contained more teeth imprints than Summy had teeth. All in all the daycare ended up blaming Summy. My problem with it is that from the time M picked them up and we arrived at the rehearsal, neither of them got out of their car seats.

Saturday was the wedding. It was a hectic stressful day but went off really well. The boys did absolutely great. They only cried once and that was as Caitlin and Mike walked down the aisle at the end. They had a bag piper play and he scared Summy. The reception was nice and the boys were at home sleeping silently.

Sunday was a day of rest. Everyone had long naps. I took Mike and Caitlin to the airport and took back tuxes After that, we slept, and slept and slept.

Gone for too long

Wow, so I set a reminder on my calendar to do an update everyday and I managed to delete it everyday for 3 months. So I will be working backwards and will really try to get caught up.

M turned 30 yesterday and for the most part she has handled it fairly well. I felt bad that only 2 people called to wish her happy birthday. I am proud of her because she has been really protective of her time with the boys now that she is back at school. I have said in the past, she is the nicest person in the world and far too often people take advantage of that. I am included in that statement.

As for me, works has been exceptionally stressful lately. It seems like this year there is a ton more work to do that in previous years. It has made me really short with everyone around our house. Today’s I finally feel like I turned the corner on a chunk of work and can relax for a moment.

The boys: what an absolute joy they are on a daily basis. Everyday I find a new thing to love about each of them. Daycare has been a rough transition but I think they are really going to thrive for the better in the long run.

Summy: He loves to talk now. He is very good at repeating stuff but now I notice he is retaining it. We put out a light up inflatable pumpkin. I told him on Monday that was called a pumpkin and he said something that vaguely sounded like pumpkin. Yesterday, we got home and it was lit up and I asked him what it was and he said the same thing. I said it’s a pumpkin and he said the same thing again. The bets has to be the “Go Buckeyes.” It sounds like “Go Buckies!” I love it and it is hilarious. He will now say it any time he sees the Ohio State logo.

Also Elmo is his new favorite thing. He spots Elmo everywhere and says, “Elmo, Elmo Elmo.” The he sings the Elmo song that his toy makes. It’s great.

Jack: Jack has not talked as much as before daycare but I can definitely tell he understands more that he lets on. He will give you a look and you know he knows what he is doing but he just wants to test the boundaries. My favorite thing now is the way he can manipulate Summy to get what he wants. They were fighting/sharing a bottle of water Monday and it was Summy’s turn with the bottle. Jack pointed to my watch like he wanted to play with it. I took it off and let him have it. He played with it long enough for Summy to see it and then offers it to Summy if he will let the water bottle go. Summy usually falls for the trick but has been catching on to this lately.

More updates in reverse to come.
